Helping local adoption agencies get more from National Adoption Week

National Adoption Week is now just under two months away. As many of you know, we work with major media partners, which in previous years have included The Sun, The Independent and This Morning. However, as one of the UK's largest adoption membership organisation, we also take our role in supporting local adoption agencies very seriously. It's important to us that they are supported in running out the campaign on a local level, and that is why we are piloting a new workshop to help our members get the most out of the campaign for local children and families.

Known as the National Adoption Week Skill Share, the event is for local adoption agencies to help them focus on different aspects of the campaign – from using online tools and the media, to advice on featuring  children waiting in the mainstream media. There will be expert speakers from within BAAF, and we also hope that local agencies will also share their own experiences of what has and hasn't worked for them in terms of prospective adopter recruitment. There will also be an open session to bring your along your own questions, and get advice from both BAAF staff and your peers about how to maximise opportunities during National Adoption Week.

The National Adoption Week Skill Share takes place on Tuesday 27th September from 1.30pm until 5pm at BAAF's Head Office in London. The event is free to members and £150 to non members.

If you work in local adoption recruitment, either for a local authority or voluntary adoption agency, and would like to attend, you can find out more about the event, including how to register for a place at http://nawskillshare.eventbrite.com/

If you are unable to make a London based event, but would be interested in attending an event elsewhere we would love to here from you to help us with our future planning. We would be particularly interested in anyone who would be interested in speaking at the event about their own agencies experiences of National Adoption Week, as well as anyone who may be able to provide a venue for us to host a skillshare event for National Adoption Week. Please contact us via press@baaf.org.uk for further information.
